Blacksmith Yard Gallery’s DOGS

DOGS | Group exhibition
21.03.26 – 18.04.26

The gallery was established, in part, to honour the legacy of the
late Nicolene Swanepoel, whose sculptural work often explored
zoomorphic forms, with animals—particularly dogs—appearing
throughout her body of work.
Swanepoel was also a passionate advocate for animal
welfare, and this concern remains an important part of the
ethos that informs the gallery.
Dogs, the gallery’s first group exhibition, brings together a
number of artists whose participation reflects a shared
willingness to support this cause.
While each artist approaches the theme in their own way, their
collective contribution forms the basis of an exhibition that
acknowledges the enduring relationship between humans and
dogs.
In keeping with Nicolene Swanepoel’s commitment to animal
welfare, 20% commission from all works sold in the exhibition
will be donated to Riebeek Animal Welfare.
The exhibition therefore functions not only as a presentation
of contemporary work, but also as a gesture of support for a
cause that continues to resonate beyond the gallery.
